Weaning from Breastfeeding

At Aeroflow Breastpumps, we know the journey on the breastfeeding train can be arduous.  Getting a feeding schedule fine tuned, deciding what supplies you need, and even getting your little one to latch can be difficult!  Once those things are figured out, breastfeeding can be a breeze for most moms.  The question is when do moms start weaning from breastfeeding?  The task of just getting started successfully was enough to handle!  The truth is that the time will come when you will be ready to start weaning from breastfeeding and sometimes it can be hard on you and baby.

As far as what age you should start weaning, that is completely up to you, your partner, and your baby’s needs.  According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, a lot of women will start the weaning process from breastfeeding anywhere from four months to seven months old.  One of the biggest tips to keep in mind is to give your little one a lot of TLC during the process.  More one on one time is key, as baby may feel a little separation anxiety.  Also make sure to steadily decrease time from the breast.  Gradually add on more feedings with bottles and/or solid foods.  The process is not always easy and if baby is putting a fight, it is okay to continue feeding and trying again another time.

Nursing is not an easy job for new mothers and it can come with stress but know you are doing the best for your new family.  Whether you choose to exclusively pump or just need a breast pump to help store extra milk, Aeroflow Breastpumps can help you get your pump shipped right to your front door at little or no cost to you and your family.
